Laramie County Fire District #1 proudly protects 20,000 people living in an area of 180 square miles. We operate out of 2 stations that protects a primarily residential area. Our department is a combination department consisting of volunteers and paid personnel. We run an average of 1300 calls per year with an average first due response time of 3-5 minutes.

Laramie County Fire District #1 was established in 1947 and serves the area south of the City of Cheyenne to the Colorado border. LCFD # 1 also provides mutual aid with the remainder of Laramie County, and portions of Northern Colorado. Currently we have 40 members, six of which are full-time and one paid Fire Chief.

LCFD #1 provides the following services;

Firefighting, Haz-Mat, BLS Emergency Medical Services, Vehicle Rescue (Extrication), Search & Rescue

I would like to thank all of the members of Laramie County for the warm welcome. I have been here for a couple of weeks and already feel like I am at home here with all of the members of our community. I look forward to being able to serve you as a Chief of Laramie County Fire District 1.

Chief Dennis K. West passed away on April 18th, 2007 after a long battle with cancer. Dennis was Chief of LCFD # 1, a previous member of LCFD # 2, formerly a Wyoming Highway Patrolman, and a former US Marine. Chief West was very dedicated in the fire service, and loved his job, along with helping the community. If you ask anybody, they would say that he was a terrific person, and was full of knowledge. For those reasons, this web site is and always will be in memory of him. He will be missed by all.
